Ruger Old Model Single Six Serial Number History

Thanks for getting me looking. Makes my Old Model Single-Six 5 1/2' (20-218XX) a circa 1969 standard model covertable (although it only had the 22MAG cylinder with it when I bought it even though it's in mint condition). Some of those Old Model Single-Sixes with the 20 and 21 prefix with the 5 1/2 in. Were single cylinder guns. But they were.22 only.

Not.22 Mag only. After Ruger started making the convertibles in late 1959 or 1960, not real sure of the date, almost all Single-Sixes were convertibles. They made a few 6 1/2 in. Guns in.22 Mag.

I bought a nice Old Model Single-Six today to have some fun with. I have been trying to date it with the serial number on the Ruger Website but.

Only and they made a few 5 1/2 in bl. Guns in.22 only. Anyone having a 5 1/2 in bl. Single-Six with only a.22 cylinder, needs to call Ruger to get a letter. You will find a lot of guns with only the.22 cylinder but most of them are missing the Mag. So far all Old Model Single-Sixes with 4 5/8 in. And 9 1/2 bl.

Will be a convertible. I've been offered a 'non cataloged' Security Six. Does someone mind telling me what that means.

I have a guess but would like to make sure. It means a Double Action Ruger Revolver in such a configuration that it does NOT match anything shown in the catalogs. Now, is it a 'Ruger Made' configuration or was it done after it was shipped from the Factory? Flatgate Thanks Flatgate. For you and Hondo44, please forgive me in saying at this time I have two questions for the gentleman that I am awaiting a return phone call on. Depending on his answers, I'm either buying it or passing. At that time, one way or the other I'll give details.

All I really want to say at this time it is a 100% NIB factory made with either 5 or 6 known. I apologize if I stole this thread, I just wanted to make sure my understanding of non cataloged was what you both kindly explained to me.

If you needfull any care, they will help you. It you request to obtain a child, we recommend to go there www.mother-surrogate.com. They will response for all your questions. Lester.357, tell ya what I'll give ya $451.00 for that little gun, you really made out lol. I had one that was exactly like yours, that I bought at the USMC Recruit Depot Commissary San Diego, Ca.

In 1967, with the.22WMF cylinder, and like a dummy I sold it to a good buddy so I could buy a.357 S&W Model 19, when I first became a police officer back in 1970. I just talked to him a few months ago and he still has it, but is saving it for his grandson. I offered him a trade for a brand new one with adjustable rear sights and $200.00 but still he refused. Now I understand why. And at a good price.

I'm just not a proponent of safe queens. I would keep it and shoot it, but take special care of it. I have a number of favorites that go to the range from time to time that still look like new. I'd keep it in a quality padded case, store in a humidity free environment, and wrap the box in a plastic bag and store separately to keep it pristine and avoid wear caused by use of access to the gun. If it needed to be my fishing bucket varmint repeller, I'd buy a solid but obviously used piece that I wouldn't need to obsess about any unavoidable wear and tear. If you really just don't have any use for a gun that should avoid unnecessary wear and tear, not even as an investment, I'd pass it along to someone who would appreciate it and buy another convertible you wouldn't be afraid to use. Values are hard to determine locally.

You will find some reluctance of a public number, because some will want to PM you and try to steal it. Around here, at a local show, I would imagine a price between 750.00 and 950, and it would take some patience to sell. Undoubtedly it may fetch a four figure price at an online auction site. It's one of those guns that might blow your mind one day and sell for 2500.00 and another day for 650.00 and you can't figure out why. Microsoft office free full download. Regardless, there are few if any just like that in the same or better condition. It should be a treasured position by someone.
